I’mma just say this because it’s annoying me. I know you white people love to point out that Cleopatra was ethnically Macedonian-Greek and that somehow means white, and that’s cool and whatnot. But we don’t know what that bitch looked like. She could have been the brownest Ptolemy ever in everdom. Just dark. We just don’t know. However, while it may scream “historical inaccuracy” for her to be cast as a WOC, I’mma need for y’all to relax. In a world where Gerard FUCKING Butler can play Atilla the Hun and a white dude can not only play the Prince of Persia, but also Jesus, I’mma need for y’all to shut the fuck up about “getting shit right”. It’s only historical inaccuracy when white people don’t win. I see you. It’s cute. But, STOP.
People with disabilities do not exist to “give you hope” or “inspire” you. We are not here solely to propel you to do wonderfully able things with your life. We are here, quite simply, to do whatever the fuck we want to do, whether that’s running a marathon or sitting on the couch in front of the TV. Just. Like. You.
I don’t talk to people much. I mean, I talk to them, but they don’t talk to me, except to say that, “your questions are irksome,” and, “perhaps you should take your furs and your literal interpretations to the other side of the river”.
I am so excited for Youngman to get to Anya! She’s the best ever.
Meet the ladies of Bunheads, a new show from Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino. The series follows a group of aspiring dancers in a small town; it stars two-time Tony Award-winning actress Sutton Foster as a showgirl who leaves Vegas to work at her mother-in-law’s dance studio. It premieres June 11 on ABC Family.
Sound like something you’d watch, Tumblrers?
I fucking love shows/movies about dancers, for no real apparent reason because I never really enjoyed dancing, but I will watch the shit out of this. ESPECIALLY since Amy Sherman-Palladino created it—I adore Gilmore Girls. Ballet dancers blow my mind—they could rip you to shreds because they’re freaking ripped and can leap and bound and do all sorts of superhero shit, but when you see them on stage they’re just so…delicate and almost fragile looking and graceful and it’s just like oh my god what how are you even doing this.
